Outreach and service activities

  • Courant Splash (cSplash), 2025 and 2023: I gave outreach talks to NYC high school and college students: Waves across the Pacific (2025) and From greenhouse effect to the Paris Agreement: Exploring Manabe’s Nobel-winning work in predicting global warming (2023).
  • NYU Applied Math Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (AM-SURE) , 2023: As program co-coordinator, I helped select participants, present tutorials, advise student research, and organize research talks , meetings, and social events. See the students’ final presentations and reports and a group photo .
  • Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM), 2023 and 2024: As faculty adviser, I lectured on mathematical modeling of climate change and helped teams prepare for the contest. Teams I advised received Honorable Mentions in 2023 and 2024.
  • Courant Ph.D. student survey committee, 2024: As a committee member, I helped summarize the results of an anonymous student climate survey in reports that protected respondents’ anonymity.
  • NYU College & Career Lab , 2023: I volunteered as a lecturer, speaking to rising eighth-grade students about a pathway to a STEM Ph.D. and research in climate change.
  • NYU SIAM Student Chapter, 2020–2022: As a founding board member, I organized events accessible to Courant undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Planetary Scale Ocean Circulation Course , 2020–2021: As a teaching assistant for the World Science Scholars program, I helped Professor David Holland develop and teach a three-hour course on ocean circulation. I conducted an ocean-gyres-in-a-rotating-tank experiment at NYU’s Environmental Fluid Dynamics Lab .
  • UCLA New Student Adviser and Mentor, 2018: I advised over 150 new undergraduates on curriculum, student services, and transitioning to university.
